Who We Are

The Riverside Tamale Festival is the signature event of the Spanish Town Heritage Foundation, a California public benefit non-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization sanctioned by the IRS.

The Riverside Tamale Festival provides Riverside residents an innovative and unique cultural experience showcasing the city’s rich Latino heritage.  The Festival continues to be a vehicle for organizers to journey toward the vision of the restoration and rehabilitation of the Trujillo Adobe, Riverside Landmark #130, Riverside County Landmark #009, a California site of historical significance, and a site of High Potential designated by the National Park Service.

This vision includes not only the restoration of the adobe, but the area surrounding it known as La Placita de los Trujillos,  the agricultural community founded in 1842 by Lorenzo Trujillo.  The Riverside Tamale Festival reaches far beyond the City of Riverside, the Counties of Riverside and San Bernardino attracting tourists from all over Southern California and indeed the Southwest making the Riverside Tamale Festival one of the largest single day events celebrated in the region.
